Best Disposable Cameras That Are Great For Parties, Holidays And Weddings - Evening Standard
Even with all the advances in modern camera technology, there is one old-school method of picture-taking that has never lost its appeal - using a disposable camera. Cheap and cheerful, quick and easy to use, and producing high-quality photos, they make the perfect device for recording your favourite moments, whether on holiday, at a party or special occasion. Pull them out at events, strike a pose and once it’s shot, that’s it. No editing, no take-two, just a totally candid snapshot of that moment.
World of Wonder — Digital SLR Photography magazine
There was British success too, with Paul Sansome winning the Art of Travel portfolio category, while Geoff Shoults won the award for the Best Single Image in an Art of Travel portfolio. The Endangered Planet portfolio category was won by Belgian photographer Alain Schroeder for his moving images of the rescue and rehabilitation of Indonesian orangutans.
A handy tip for removing flare from landscapes — Digital SLR Photography magazine
1 Establish exposure Sometimes to capture the sun illuminating a scene in just the right way, flare is inevitable as the sun has to be just out of the frame. Adjusting your position so that the sun is hidden can help, but may compromise the image. Instead, using aperture-priority mode, establish the exposure before transferring the settings over into manual exposure mode to ensure they don’t change.

Review: Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art — Raspberry Pi Press
Design As with other Art lenses, the dust- and splashproof 135mm feels robust and has a classy all-black finish. A very wide manual focus ring dominates the front half of the barrel, with a grooved rubberised finish that makes it very easy to use. Behind it is a small focusing distance window and to its left are two focus switches. The top switch selects AF or manual focus, while below it is a focus limiter with three settings: Full, 1.5m to infinity and 0.875m-1.5m.
REVIEW: Fujifilm GFX 100 — Raspberry Pi Press
BUILD QUALITY With mirrorless cameras generally offering a smaller and more compact alternative to DSLRs, the large sensor within the GFX 100 means the opposite is true. The design and size of the GFX 100's body is similar to that of a pro-DSLR, which is impressive considering the large sensor it houses, along with a body-integral image stabilisation system. Build quality is excellent, with rubberised panels around much of the body providing a firm hold.

2. Experiment with perspective Straight and eye-level is how the majority of us shoot every day, so unless you’re 4ft or 8ft tall you’re generally shooting a scene how most people see it and, well, that can be boring. Show them something different by changing your view: get on the ground, get up high or turn your camera to the sky. You may be amazed at what opportunities you’re missing by looking in the same direction everyday.
REVIEW: Canon EOS 90D — Raspberry Pi Press
Build Quality One of the key differences between the EOS 90D and EOS M6 Mark II is size and weight – if you prefer the most compact option then go mirrorless, if you'd rather have something more substantial to hold, then check out the EOS 90D. Its size, weight and appearance is much like the EOS 80D and earlier predecessors, with a reasonably light body boasting a chunky handgrip and nicely sized controls along the top and back.
Review: Sigma 40mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens — Raspberry Pi Press
Performance This is without doubt one of the finest-quality optics we've yet tested, capturing incredibly sharp images with no evidence of distortion or vignetting. The 16 elements used in its construction include three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) and FLD ('F' Low Dispersion) glass elements, as well as an aspherical lens, to minimise aberrations, with the fast maximum aperture and nine rounded iris blades producing very attractive bokeh.

How to photograph overcast portraits
That said, even on overcast days, you should still be able to make out the sun's position, so use this when angling reflectors to bounce light on to your subject. You'll want to have one or two reflectors to hand when shooting in diffused light because, while its soft nature is appealing, it can be rather flat. Reflectors allow you to bounce additional light on to your subject's face, illuminating detail and a catchlight.
Review: Lastolite Vintage Background
Supplied in the handy carry case is a lighting stand and a support bracket, which sports a standard 5/8 spigot connector to fix to the stand, and two strong neodynium magnets that securely hold steel-rimmed backgrounds up to 5kg in weight. Setting up the outfit takes very little time, all you need do is open the lighting stand, attach and fix the bracket, then extend the stand.
7 Tips to Improve Your Landscapes
2 The golden hour The last hour of daylight before the sun sets is often referred to as the ‘golden hour’, because the light has a wonderful natural warmth to it that bathes the scene. With the sun low in the sky, shadows are long and help to reveal texture and depth in the landscape if you keep the sun to one side of the camera. You can’t really fail to take great shots at this time of day, so make the most of it – then hang around until night falls as the sky will continue to change colour.
REVIEW: Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens
Build quality If you've used a 50mm lens before, the first thing you'll notice about this Sigma is its size and weight. At 815 grams, it weighs more than quite a number of camera bodies and almost three times that of comparable lenses from Canon and Nikon. Part of this added weight is the materials used in the construction of the lens. The clean, black barrel not only looks great, the use of metal and a brass mount means it feels very solid and well put together.
Canon EOS 90D & EOS M6 Mark II released
Both models feature a 32.5-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, claimed to achieve full- frame levels of resolution, with the additional benefit of reach provided by the APS-C format. The DIGIC 8 processor also unlocks lens correction tools including the Digital Lens Optimiser and Diffraction Correction, to improve in-camera images, while Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities allows content creators to quickly share images.
Circular Fisheye for Micro Four Thirds
_210° angle-of-view _ The lens boasts an ultra-wide 210° angle-of-view so is quite a specialist optic, but will suit those shooting creative effects, panoramics and astro-photography. A full 360º panorama can also be achieved using as few as two images as opposed to shooting six or more images with conventional fisheye lenses. This lens is also particularly good for VR photography, shooting virtual tour and spherical panoramas.
Review: ThinkTank Photo StoryTeller 10
Build quality The StoryTeller 10 is made from high-grade materials and has a clean, stylish and modern look. It is very well designed, allowing fast access to the main compartment via a zipped lid, which flips outwards when opened, making it easier to reach inside for your kit. It's a small but deep bag (internal dimensions: 28x25x12.5cm; external dimensions: 30.5x26x16cm), so you'll be surprised how much you can fit inside.
