A woman’s body has been recovered from the River Avon after a major search. Emergency services were called to the incident near Kensington Meadows, off London Road in Bath, at around 7.30pm today (Friday). Wiltshire 999s understands that a woman was swimming in the river with friends, while enjoying alcoholic drinks, before disappearing in the water. Witnesses to the incident phoned 999 and police, fire and the ambulance service were scrambled to the scene.

Two people injured in crash on A303 as major route blocked

The A303 is blocked following a crash on the major route this afternoon (Friday). Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision near Wylye at around 2pm. The busy road is partially closed as 999 crews attend the incident, which involved a car and a van. Two people have been taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not said to be serious, Wiltshire Police confirmed. The crash has caused significant delays for motorists, with queues for miles in both directions.

A Mini overturned in Chippenham as a driver reportedly swerved to avoid a crash. Emergency services were called to Langley Road, outside Langley Park, at around 5.30pm this afternoon (Thursday). A blue Mini Cooper collided with a lamppost and flipped onto its roof. According to a witness, the driver had swerved to avoid another vehicle – which had carelessly pulled out of Langley Park. Nobody sustained any serious injuries, but an ambulance crew were in attendance.
