It used to be Prince of Tennis and Kuroko no Basket, and right now Blue Lock is taking the world by storm. There's always one every few years, and while I'm glad for the growing profile of sports manga, they're almost always series that leave me cold. The one exception is Haikyu!!, a manga about boys' volleyball.

Some authors stay in one lane their whole lives, while others try to branch out to avoid being pigeon-holed. As a result, you might not expect the author of Your Lie in April to write a sports manga, but far from writing just one, he’s actually written two! Yes, Farewell, My Dear Cramer is actually a sequel to Sayonara, Football, and while the manga doesn’t specifically follow that series’ main character Nozomi Onda, she’s definitely a big part of the story.
