June 30, 2026, 12:45 p.m. CT FOND DU LAC – Fond du Lac County Judge Anthony Nehls has sentenced the Ripon man behind a 2025 ax attack to 90 years. Hayden L. Daffinson, 35, was sentenced June 29 to 60 years of initial prison confinement and 30 years of extended supervision, according to Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney. Daffinson was convicted in March of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree sexual assault and mayhem, all with domestic abuse enhancers.

According to the National Weather Service, Fond du Lac County is under an Extreme Heat Warning until 7 p.m. Wednesday, with daytime heat index values up to 106 degrees and overnight heat index values in the upper 70s. Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.
