Tesla has set a new monthly sales record in Japan, capping off a breakout second quarter and continuing a trend that has been growing over the last six months. According to data from the Japan Automobile Importers Association (JAIA), Tesla recorded 3,997 registrations in Japan in June 2026. That is up from 1,411 registrations in June 2025, representing an increase of approximately 183% year-over-year.

Tesla has added a new accessory to its online shop with the launch of a Dual Zone Fridge designed specifically for the Model Y. Unlike portable coolers that can take up valuable cargo space, Tesla’s latest accessory is designed to sit inside the Model Y’s sub-trunk, allowing owners to maintain the vehicle’s full cargo area while adding 35 litres of refrigerated storage.

Newly released court documents in the fatal Texas Tesla crash show the collision may have been a deliberate act by the driver rather than the result of a case of pedal misapplication, or a malfunctioning driver-assistance system as some have suggested. The documents were filed as part of the manslaughter charge against driver Michael Butler, who was arrested this week following the June 19 crash.
