Farewell to yacht design legend Mark Ellis - WindCheck Magazine
Author: Dave Harris We are sad to report that Mark Ellis, co-founder of Harris & Ellis Yachts, has died at the age of 80 in Essex, Connecticut. Mark was, above all, my friend. He was also my colleague, my business partner, my mentor. He was the guy who regularly dragged me out for lunch to his favourite local Indian buffet when we shared an office, which we did for more than 30 years. I met Mark In 1973 with the launch of the C&C 48 Discovery, in Bronte Harbour.

Columnist isn't reading the gospel all the way through
Dave Harris, Poulsbo Kitsap Sun In response to Ed Palm's recent column, “A God that perhaps would like to see more action," Ronald Reagan would say: “There you go again” with your LUDS — Liberty University Derangement Syndrome. Disparaging House Speaker Mike Johnson in his association with the esteemed institution was the latest example. On the other hand, Ed deserves some credit.

As a 40-year journalist and federal media spokesperson, I have some advice to enhance Ed Palm’s success as a columnist (“What would Professor Jesus do?”, Sept. 18) 1. Ed, you might consider broadening your worldview. Repeated hammering of Liberty University might make people think you’re a one-pony show. 2. I guarantee there is plenty of diversity of thought at any evangelical university (e.g., Arminianism, Calvinism, pre-millennial/a-millennial/post-millennial rapture, eternal security, you name it.

Letter stereotyped Republicans and ignored actions of others
Dave Harris, Poulsbo In response to the recent letter by Mr. Gunby, who suggested a change in Republicans is complete: I would respectfully request even a single fact in your strange opinion. I have encountered hundreds, even thousands of Republicans over three-quarters of a century. I have not met even one in favor of political violence.
Columnist should recognize freedom Christ offers
Dave Harris, Poulsbo In Ed Palm’s recent column, “The freedom a forced religion would cost,” his research is woefully selective; he misunderstands Christian freedom. Freedom from what? The Gospel’s freedom is from the power of sin, spiritual death and an unthinkable eternity. Galatians 5:13: “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.

Tambo & Bones
World Premiere Production Tambo and Bones are two characters trapped in a minstrel show. It’s hard to feel like a real person when you’re trapped in a minstrel show. Their escape plan: get out, get rich, get even. Imaginative and provocative, Tambo & Bones is a daring and explosive rags-to-riches roast of America’s past, present, and future at the intersection of racism and capitalism. And what’s at stake, for those deemed less-than-human, is the fate of humanity itself.
