Crusaders battle back to win division title
Well, we made it through our mini season of Tillonburg Men’s Slo-Pitch as all division champions were crowned last week. Many thanks to league president Chris Parker for his tireless work in making sure the slo-pitch community was able to have some normalcy in these crazy times! TMSPL president Chris Parker says, “Tillsonburg Men’s Slo-Pitch League is happy to be given the opportunity to return to the diamond this year. “The biggest hurdle for TMSPL this year was the uncertainty and not knowing when we would be able to take the fields. Dave Weaver Voice of Slo-Pitch This past Saturday night a very worthwhile event was held at Sammy Krenshaw’s in Tillsonburg. This will be an eventful week for a group of Masters Ladies as they travel to Kelowna, B.C. to compete in the SPN Nationals starting Friday. The Honey Badgers consist of players from a few teams in the Ladies Slo-Pitch League. Best of luck to them! This year both leagues have decided to go with the Game On Mobile App for reporting scores and tracking standings. The Ladies League have complied well as their standings are pretty well up to date.
60 and still lovin' it!
This was a big milestone week for me as I hit the 60 mark on Friday. All health allowing, I should play slo-pitch on Friday in my fifth decade. When I transferred from Brantford to Tillsonburg, I wondered where the heck I was going to. Back then there was an age limit and I started playing Slo-Pitch League when I turned 21 in an 11-team league for a team sponsored by Battery Supply. Then played with a new team West Flooring, and from there with the same nucleus on Sun Ray Jays for several years.
Bad News Bears impress
Last Monday night the top two undefeated Ladies A teams met for the first time this season so, barring a tie, we will be down to just one undefeated team in Tillsonburg Slo-pitch. This weekend will be the Tillsonburg Thunder's annual Ribfest, Friday through Sunday. Hopefully the weatherman cooperates! I.C. Waters won three games last week knocking off two A squads and one B team.
A sad week for local slo-pitch
It was a sad week in Tillsonburg Slo-Pitch. On June 26th the slo-pitch community lost one of its dedicated supporters. Bonnie Temple passed away after an illness that never kept her from being at the diamonds every single night whether it be Men's or Ladies action taking place! Bonnie was always available to keep score for whichever team required a scorekeeper and whenever I received her scoresheet it was thorough, including extended stats for every player.

This past weekend was the 10th Annual O.R.C.S. Coed Three Pitch Tournament. The event was staffed by many friendly volunteers and the theme was sportsmanship and good camraderie. Maple View Variety handed Haines Roofing their first loss. They also won easily over Pelicans. Haines edged out Sunrise Equipment Roosters in the only other A division action.

Corey's Restaurant, Indi-Girls battling in A final | Tillsonburg News
Only three series of the 11 played in Tillsonburg Men's slo-pitch went the distance to a fifth and deciding game. There was one sweep in A, one in B and one in C. This coming weekend several teams will be making the trek to the SPN Provincial Championships in Niagara Falls.

The best time of year in slo-pitch also means that summer will soon be coming to an end. Indi-Girls halt Corey's run | Tillsonburg News
This week I will turn 59! I have been involved in slo-pitch for 38 years and over the years I have played, coached and umpired. All my acquaintances and friendships have come as a result of the sport! I have gone full circle as now I'm playing with some whom I played against in my early years. How to Play for My Dad
By the end of my four years at Creighton in 2014, my dad and I had been part of a record-setting run for the basketball program. But our time in Omaha didn’t exactly start off with a bang. It started out … awkward. When my dad, Greg McDermott, took the Creighton job in April 2010, following a tough few years as the coach at Iowa State, the school had a big introductory press conference. We had just moved to Omaha and my family was all there.

A Tech Boost for the Aging Iowa Caucus
Caucus Night 2012 was not exactly a banner evening for the Republican Party of Iowa. Reporting problems plagued the vote-counting during the crucial first-in-the-nation presidential contest. The initial headlines credited frontrunner Mitt Romney with the narrowest of victories over Rick Santorum, by a mere eight votes out of more than 100,000 cast. When the state party certified the results of the election more than two weeks later, however, it declared Santorum the official winner by 34 votes.
