What was your first job as a journalist?
Writing/editing/publishing "The Tracker" in the mid-60s, a "listener/dee-jay guide" to popular music.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Hahahaha... of course! When I was 8 I had a toy typewriter...
How is social media changing news?
Social media demands IMMEDIACY. Reporters deadlines are shorter than ever...

What does it mean to be a journalist?
To connect and people and their experiences to other people. Preserve them.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
Can't recall any "funniest" #hashtag...
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
email, twitter, facebook... phone... mail... whatever works for the pitcher...
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
USB recording device, iPhone, Android, Phablet, Adobe... I carry pencil & paper and have an old reporter's RCA cassette recorder on standby.

SMS services twitter and weibo

Why did you become a journalist?
I was "broadcasting" - reporting from a make-believe studio when I was 4-and-a-half years old.
