David C. Adams’s Biography

David C. Adams is a freelance reporter and editor based in Miami.

British born and trilingual, Adams was previously a senior editor at Univision News and Reuters Editor in Charge for the Southeast US and Caribbean. Before that he spent 15 years as the Miami-based Latin America correspondent of the St Petersburg Times, Florida’s largest newspaper, now renamed the Tampa Bay Times.

He has covered many historic events in the region, including numerous reporting trips to Mexico, Cuba, Haiti, Colombia and Venezuela. He also co-produced two award-winning documentary films, one on the death of Cuban American baseball pitcher Jose Fernandez (JDF16) and the other on sexual abuse on the US military (#lamVanessaGuillen). He co-produced a third documentary film, Failing Haïti, on the international efforts to build a stable democracy in Haiti.

He lived and worked for 5 years in Central America from 1987-92 working freelance for several US and UK media, including The Independent, The Times, The Observer, The Economist, Newsweek, the BBC and National Public Radio (NPR).

Adams was born in Beirut and graduated in Modern History from Oxford University (Hertford College).

His twin brother, Paul Adams, is a reporter with the BBC in London. Their late father, Michael Adams, was former Middle East correspondent at The Guardian.
