Anomalous electronic energy relaxation and soft phonons in the Dirac semimetal ${\mathrm{Cd}}_{3}{\mathrm{As}}_{2}$

We have used a combination of linear response time-domain THz spectroscopy (TDTS) and nonlinear THz pump-probe spectroscopy to separately probe the electronic momentum and energy relaxation rates, respectively, of the Dirac semimetal Cd3As2. We find, consistent with prior measurements, that Cd3As2 has enormous nonlinearities in the THz frequency range. We extract the momentum relaxation rate of Cd3As2 using Drude fits to the optical conductivity.

On Wednesday, October 28th, AMD (NASDAQ:AMD) gave a reveal of their new and upcoming Radeon RX 6000 series, utilizing the 2nd gen architecture they call RDNA2. This new GPU architecture is going forward to power both discrete PC graphics cards and integrated into video game consoles. Built on the TSMC 7 nm manufacturing process, AMD has the potential to outsell NVIDIA's (NASDAQ:NVDA) high powered RTX 3000 series cards manufactured on Samsung's 8 nm process.

U.S. Airline Industry Overreacts To Higher Fuel Costs

As crude oil prices have past $80/barrel for the first time in 4 years, US Airline stocks suffered a commensurate drop. United (UAL), Southwest (LUV) and American Airlines (AAL) are down 3% at time of writing, and Delta Air Lines (DAL) is down nearly 4%. Just last week however, US Airline companies dodged legislation slated to mandate “reasonable” baggage and other fees.
