Highway 60 closures planned for next week

SUPERIOR — U.S. Highway 60 will be closed three days next week. Highway 60 will be closed in both directions between mileposts 227-243 Tuesday, June 9, through Thursday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The closure is for the Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon bridges replacement project. Drivers will be detoured to Winkelman via State Routes 77 and 177. The roughly 75-mile detour is estimated to add about an hour to trips between the Gila Valley and the Phoenix metro area. comments

Roadway rehabilitation to impact on-street parking in Thatcher on Monday

THATCHER — The Town of Thatcher is notifying residents in multiple neighborhoods that vehicles may not be parked on the street while roadway improvements are made. Town crews will be cleaning the streets June 4-7, in preparation of applying oil to the roadways on June 8.

Detour in place on multi-use path for Kouts Park construction

SAFFORD — The City of Safford announced it has installed a temporary detour on a portion of the multi-use trail. The detour starts on the trail on 8th Avenue, just south of 26th Street, and will travel directly south along the western edge of Safford Cemetery, before reconnecting with the existing trail on Discovery Park Boulevard. The detour is being put in place as construction is about to begin on the new Mayor Jason Kouts Park at the corner of 8th Avenue and Discovery Park Boulevard.
