A 25-year-old Iraqi national has been released from custody after being sentenced to nine months in jail over the "predatory" sexual assault of three women on separate occasions in Toowoomba. Nasir Kicho on Friday pleaded guilty in the Toowoomba District Court to six counts of sexual assault, one count of common assault and one count of deprivation of liberty between July 2023 and March 2024.

Ellouisa Brighton Gibson charged with murder after Toowoomba house fire that killed three children

Police have charged a 36-year-old woman with murder following a deadly house fire in Toowoomba that killed her three children. Ellouisa Brighton Gibson, 36, remains in hospital in a critical condition after the fire at Merritt Street in Harristown last week. Her nine-year-old son was killed in the blaze, and her two daughters, aged four and seven, later died in hospital after suffering critical injuries.

Queensland detectives have requested records from interstate child safety authorities as part of investigations into a deadly Toowoomba house fire that killed three children, according to police sources. Ellouisa Brighton Gibson, 36, remains under police guard in the Brisbane Royal Women's Hospital after the fire at Merritt Street in Harristown last week.
