GALLUCH: Support for David Sunday for Attorney General – DV Journal
As a Navy veteran who dedicated a significant portion of my life to serving our country, I understand on a deeply personal level the critical importance of leadership, dedication, and integrity required to be an effective public servant. That’s why I am wholeheartedly supporting Dave Sunday for Pennsylvania Attorney General.
Nathan Benefield: Gov. Shapiro wants unilateral power to commit the state to climate agreements
During a recent black-tie affair in a Manhattan ballroom, Gov. Josh Shapiro encouraged Pennsylvania lawmakers to embrace bipartisanship. “It doesn’t just last a weekend, and it can happen in Pennsylvania, not just in New York City,” Shapiro said.
GALLUCH: Josh Shapiro’s Sex Scandal
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro piously talked his way across New Hampshire on Saturday, safely out of range of reporters who know what’s really going on back in his home state. It’s not pretty. Shapiro pushed his way into the limelight several years ago with a made-for-the-media grand jury report rehashing decades of sexual abuse allegations against Catholic clergymen.
Celebrate Memorial Day, but remember what it's really about.
For many veterans like me, Memorial Day is a holiday that elicits mixed emotions. Yes, we love spending time on the beach or at barbecues with our families celebrating the kick-off of summer. But amid the sounds of laughter and smiles of loved ones lurks the memory of friends lost and brothers and sisters in arms taken too soon in the line of duty. Memorial Day is more than the start of everyone’s favorite season.
David Galluch: Josh Shapiro's muddled messaging and secret meetings are hurting Pa. industry
Josh Shapiro touted unqualified support for an “all of the above energy approach” during his campaign for governor, including Pennsylvania natural gas and its downstream industries. But now that he’s in office, Mr. Shapiro has resorted to secretive closed-door meetings while maintaining his predecessor’s extreme anti-fossil fuel policies, leaving the commonwealth wondering about his plans — and worse off in the meantime. Renovo is a town like many others in Pennsylvania.
David Galluch: Pennsylvania’s energy future, hidden behind a locked door
Throughout his campaign, Josh Shapiro told us repeatedly that there were two areas in which he would move Pennsylvania in a better direction: improving transparency and supporting an “all of the above energy approach,” including Pennsylvania natural gas. Two weeks into his governorship, Shapiro received an all-expenses paid trip to the Super Bowl – something most of us can only dream of – courtesy of a publicly funded foundation and has released none of the details. So much for transparency.
David Galluch: Coming soon - the Shapiro energy tax
In a sleight of hand worthy of a card shark, Gov. Josh Shapiro quietly acted to raise home heating and electricity costs for Pennsylvania families. It’s officially termed the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, or RGGI. It should be called the “Shapiro Energy Tax.” Little noticed until recently, the governor tucked a revenue projection into a forward-looking statement appended to his annual budget proposal.
Shapiro quickly embraces wrong kind of transparency
Newly elected Gov. Josh Shapiro promised transparency when it came to Pennsylvania’s government. In a way we can agree. When Shapiro talks about running an open administration, people can see right through him. kAm$:?46 2D46?5:?8 E@ E96 8@G6C?@CD9:A[ $92A:C@ 92D <6AE D64C6E E96 =:DE @7 5@?@CD H9@ A2:5 7@C 9:D =2G:D9 :?2F8FC2=] w6 7@C465 EC2?D:E:@? GALLUCH: Safe Streets Require Leadership Changes – DV Journal
Imagine for a moment that you are done shopping and walking back to your car. You get there, hands full of shopping bags. You fumble for your keys to unlock your car. As you unlock it and get in, two men jump in with you. One gets in the front seat and the other in the back. The man in the backseat puts a gun to your head. Now stop imagining.
David Galluch: For working-class Pennsylvanians, Build Back Better misses the mark.
My great-grandfather, like so many of his day who wanted a well-paying job and a better future, turned to industry. He did not have a college degree or extensive technical training — just a high school diploma. He walked into an interview after reading a manual for an industrial lathe the night before, and he left with a job he held for over 40 years – a job that allowed him to put five children through college and enter America’s middle class. Stories like his are now rare.
GALLUCH: Leadership Void Leads to Economic Time Bomb – DV Journal
When I told my mom in my senior year at the US Naval Academy that I’d be defusing bombs for a living, she wasn’t pleased. In the following seven years I spent as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) commander, I learned a lot. Perhaps the most useful was that in the face of crises, the first rule in making things better is oftentimes to prevent them from getting worse. Despite the widespread recognition of a country in crisis, we can’t seem to make things better. Why?
