I have been in the news business more than 35 years, spending much of my career at some of the best newspapers in the country. Today, I specialize in Denver local news, health reporting, social justice issues, addiction/recovery/mental health news, and topics surrounding homelessness.

What was your first job as a journalist?

My first job as a journalist was working in the sports department of the Quad-City Times in Davenport, Iowa.

How is social media changing news?

It is making it much easier to get your news to a wider audience. It also has made news more immediate.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To be a journalist means you tell stories that people want or need to hear about.
