MATERIALS AND METHODS This work aimed to develop a simple, safe, and noninvasive buccal drug delivery platform technology based on an octopus-inspired suction patch. The SCOD was designed to adhere to the buccal mucosa, mechanically stretch the tissue, and allow for the loading of a drug formulation. The patches were fabricated via 3D printing with a biocompatible polymer or via cast molding with a food-grade PDMS.
