This Is Not the Time to Downgrade Supply Chain Sustainability
The uncertain economic and political outlook might persuade some companies to dial back their efforts to improve the sustainability of their supply chains. Some enterprises may even be more amenable to bolstering their sustainability credentials with greenwashing. Our extensive research shows that both courses of action are ill-advised.
Who will power the supply chain of the future?
Sammy, the tire store manager, runs back into the showroom after checking my vehicle's tires. Catching his breath and wiping away a bead of sweat, "Wow! You ran those to threads!" I feel a wave of shame as I imagine the line of other early morning customers standing behind me shaking their heads. Staring grimly at his computer kiosk Sammy mutters, "I'm not sure I have those in stock.
Will just transition agendas reshape supply chain sustainability goals?
The concept of supporting a "just transition" is becoming more visible in sustainability circles, and if it gains ground, it could become part of corporate pledges akin to those that commit companies to net-zero operations by a certain year. Ross' Fri Blogcast: My last of 2021, complete with the first true millipede
I realize we're a couple of weeks away from New Year's Eve still, but as this is my last "blogcast" of 2021 I decided to use a NYE fireworks picture. I've always loved the fireworks in Sydney. We lived in a high-rise near "The Rocks" neighborhood of north Sydney, at most a 10-minute walk to Sydney's famous Opera House.

He recently told Congress that we don't as much have a shortage of truckers as we have a persistent waste of truckers' time. It's a very interesting outside-the-box thought with significant policy implications. Stranded in December: A Truck Driver Story
Modern American supply chains are, in a way, a kind of Christmas miracle. In October and November, the gigantic gears of American commerce start turning. Manufacturers begin staging their finished inventory closer to consumers. This pre-positioning requires thousands upon thousands of trucks and truck drivers to zip across the country day and night to carry the loads.
