More Amtrak Midwest cancellations apparently on tap

CHICAGO - More cancellations of Amtrak Midwest service are apparently on tap beyond today (Aug. 21), the last day for which a schedule for the affected trips was available. WGEM-TV in Quincy, Ill., reported on Thursday, Aug. 20, that service interruptions on the Carl Sandburg/Illinois Zephyr route between Chicago and Quincy are expected to continue "through the end of the month." Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari cited locomotive shortages and scheduled track work.
