Why continuous development is the cornerstone of great leadership
Often people become managers based on technical knowledge, they become 'accidental managers' BY David Pich 06 Apr 2020 by David Pich, CEO of IML ANZ One of the best things about leading an Institute that’s committed to creating better managers, is that I get to be a passionate advocate for sound leadership practice as my day job. It’s always a pleasure to discuss this topic because not enough focus is placed on the impact that leaders have on their teams.
Kamyar696 – The Iranian Internet Comedy Star You Can Binge Watch All Day > CEOWORLD magazine
It is quite commonly said that if you have the power to make people laugh, you have the power to heal. Comedy is a serious business and not an attribute of many. It is easier to make people feel sad or angry. But when it comes to making somebody laugh, you need to have that “funnybone”. Being funny and witty are a part of someone’s nature. If that X factor is not in you, no matter how hard you try, you won’t be able to make people laugh.
How Enterprise Can Use Technology For Onboarding New Employees in this Pandemic Periods
The coronavirus outbreak in 2020 has forced many businesses to move online and even focus solely online. On the other hand, enterprises that seek an easy and seamless to hire new employees this pandemic season, have to adopt technological apps. These are innovative applications that will streamline the hiring process and ensure that neither the health of the HR manager or prospective candidates is put at risk.
Why Human Skills Future-proof Careers In An Automated World
One of the things I come across a lot lately is a degree of pessimism around technological advances in the workplace. Some people feel that increased automation and the rise of AI and related technology will see many types of roles become obsolete. However, I feel rather differently.
Visionary Enterprise, Replant Amazon, Aims to Replant 1 Billion Trees Across the World
Are social media platforms good for something besides cute cat pictures, makeup tips and exotic travel? Yes, says the Canadian influencer marketing platform Shop and Shout, which recently announced a strategic partnership with Replant Amazon, a visionary enterprise committed to planting 1 billion trees in deforested areas around the world.
The Neuroscience of Respect Discredits Toxic Leadership Culture in the US
There is a common misconception among corporate leaders that the most effective method to enact change is through tough leadership, ultimatums, and punishment for bad behavior. A new nonprofit recently launched with a singular mission in mind: to challenge this corporate culture and educate leaders on the benefits of respectful leadership. The Center for Respectful Leadership was founded by Gregg Ward, an established leadership expert and bestselling author.

Faced with the current epidemic, now is not the time to panic, education and leadership matter more now than ever. Leaders don’t panic and those panicking can’t lead. The best thing a leader can do is remain calm and give people the facts and real solutions. Even if you don’t have all the answers right now, the fact that you are calm and making educated decisions will put others at ease. As a business owner, you need to lead by keeping your customers and employees from harms way as best as you can.
The truth about why leadership fails (and what we need to do instead)
When it comes to building leaders, there is an inundating stampede of advice from out there encouraging aspiring professionals to act on their impulses. Every Silicon Valley entrepreneur, auto-biographing politician, and overnight success story inspires leaders to take a leap of faith, be brave, break rules, conquer whatever fear is holding them back.
Social Media For CEOs: Using Your Personal Page To Power Your Brand
Today, promotion on social media is an integral part of any PR campaign. It’s a great way to tell millions of subscribers about your project, for free or for a fraction of cost. Yet, the personal pages of the C-level executives and other key employees can often get much less attention – quite undeservedly.
Want to Spark Innovation? Bring In the Red Team
What’s the number-one enemy of innovation? A workplace filled with homogenized thought. How do you protect against it? By assigning—and encouraging—dissent. It’s not enough to model better behaviors for your employees or push them through tired groupthink or old norms; you must formally and officially assign people to shake things up. You must bring in the red team.
Business And The Climate Emergency
This year, at the 2020 meeting of the World Economic Forum, the risks that the environmental crisis poses to the business were stated to have moved from ‘potentially problematic’ to ‘potentially catastrophic’. For readers of CEOWORLD magazine, this is vital.
International Women’s Day – It’s time for men to listen, reflect and change > CEOWORLD magazine
This year – and every year – as March rolls around, people and businesses around the world get ready to observe one of the most significant days of celebration in our calendar, International Women’s Day. But with it, comes the familiar objection: “But every day should be International Women’s Day”. Except, it’s not. And as a man in our society and in a leadership position, I have a significant role to play in correcting that.
Reimagining the C-Suite: Why the C-suite needs to change to reflect the changing times
The market demands that large companies innovate differently, embrace digital, create ecosystems and transform customer relationships at a breath-taking pace. Succeed, and the rewards may be exponential; fail, and irrelevance quickly follows. With disruption raising the stakes, shouldn’t the C-suite be optimally structured to rise to the challenge?

I recently sat in on a team meeting with the senior lieutenants of a key function for a professional services company. Not knowing any of them, it occurred to me that there were no visual, outward signs to suggest who might be the leader. For decades, it was easy to spot the leader of any organization: a middle-aged white man dressed in a crisp business suit. But today? Not so much.
Millennials Are Looking For Meaning
Old brands are heading for trouble with millennials. The world’s biggest branding machine, Procter & Gamble spends a stunning $7 billion on advertising each year. It ranked number 12 out of 149 organizations on the World Value Index in 2017, which measures the extent to which Americans are inspired by brands’ missions and the extent to which that inspiration drives active support and purchase.

Neutralizing Workforce Carbon Footprints
“I always did something I was a little not ready to do. I think that’s how you grow. When there’s that moment of ‘Wow, I’m not really sure I can do this,’ and you push through those moments, that’s when you have a breakthrough.” – Marissa Mayer. There are plentiful of speakers and master trainers on board.

When you own a business, you’re typically focused on doing the work itself and less on the tedious financial paperwork. Nevertheless, we probably don’t need to explain that it’s just as important as providing good quality products and services for your clients. Making mistakes in your invoices can lead to delayed payments and can undermine your professional image, decreasing your chances of accumulating repeat customers and building a good reputation.
How CEOs Can Deliver Long-Term Results While Squeezed by Short-Term Pressure
When CEOs are hired, they’re expected to deliver results right away. The most common window is 90 days, with a recent Brandpie survey showing that 78% of CEOs felt they had enough time to prove their worth. While delivering short-term wins, they must also plan for the long-term success of their companies. These conflicting tasks make it hard for CEOs to reach their goals. This trend stems from the uncertainty of the modern market after the financial crisis of 2008.
Here Are The World’s Most Powerful Countries In 2019
Unsurprisingly, the United States has retained its spot as the world’s most powerful country in 2019, according to an annual ranking, followed closely by Russia and China. The report describes the U.S. as the “most dominant economic and military power in the world.” America also has a large cultural impact on the world because of how its popular culture is expressed in music, movies, books, and TV shows.
The Power of A Great Employee’s Farewell
I’m sure you’ll recognize the moment. You’ve just gotten your act together and rounded out the building of your team. And it’s a nice team. You’ve got a couple of great people around you who make you think, “I can win the war with them!” But the moment doesn’t last. Before you know it, somebody wants to talk to you for a second. “I’ve got a new job,” they say. And at that moment, the farewell begins. Ouch! It’s a painful moment. It shouldn’t be such a blow, but it is. It feels devastating.
Doing what’s right: Why ethical leadership and CSR isn’t just a big business issue
These days it appears that things must be bigger than before – the most-read, the most-shared or the most-talked-about. It’s all about impact; being bigger than big. The problem with this is that smaller actions can appear to lack impact. Anything that isn’t big, bigger or the biggest can seem to be futile and not worth doing. In terms of ethical leadership and corporate social responsibility, this thinking is dangerous.
Problem hunting in innovation
Is it a dedicated time or a dedicated team that aids organisational innovation? Organisations have also tried the traditional suggestion box, innovation directors, and introduced a value of innovation. Some of which have had some success. Problems are a regular occurrence within businesses and possibly offer the most significant source of innovation. How can teams premeditate where issues will present themselves? By hunting for them. Where do they hunt for problems?
The six ways to become an intentional leader
There is no doubt that successful leaders are made, not born. During the course of my career, it has been the people who have learned from mistakes, observed other great leaders and developed themselves who have been able to inspire and motivate their teams to succeed. And really, that’s what being a leader is all about. The unfortunate reality is that many managers suddenly find themselves in a leadership position when they least expect it.

Wise Leadership in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Are robots coming for your job? Yes and no. According to a Dell Technologies survey, 82% of leaders expect their employees and machines to work as “integrated teams”. And many employees look forward to artificial intelligence (AI) that can help them do their job better. But not everybody has such a rosy outlook. In Australia, the report “Australia’s Future Workforce” predicts about 40% of jobs could be lost to robotics, automation and artificial intelligence in the next 10-15 years.
