The Classic Horror Film Board-Robert Benevides - MONSTER CHALLENGED WORLD, OUTER LIMITS
We've updated our Privacy Policy and by continuing you're agreeing to the updated terms. Share with: Link: Member 36K21,851 He was very nice when I phoned him to ask about MONSTER THAT CHALLENGED THE WORLD for my commentary -- he was Morty, the randy Navy boy Salton Sea-swimming with pretty Jody. In addition to his one or two stories, he also taught me how to say his name. A happy-to-help guy with a nice sense of humor (based on the five minutes I had with him).

The Classic Horror Film Board-A reminder regarding obituaries of political figures
We've updated our Privacy Policy and by continuing you're agreeing to the updated terms. Share with: Link: Burgomaster 13K22,123 From our guidelines to posting obituaries above: —We will no longer allow obituaries for political figures. The board has experienced too much divisiveness and gamesmanship within obituaries of political figures when we allowed them in the past.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Soundtrack albums and CDs for sale
I have lots of soundtrack LPs, most in near-mint condition, with protective sleeves on both albums and covers, and many are still shrink-wrapped. I only collected "older" composers, and don't have much Goldsmith or Williams left. If you have any composers whose music you're looking for, please let me know at monstrous@earthlink.net and I'll let you know what I have. Not expecting to make a ton of money, but not willing to give them away quite yet.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Clearing out lots of soundtrack CDs and LPs
8 minutes ago#12024-12-18T01:40+00:00 Not sure if you're not allowed to "sell" on here, so here's a link to a post on FSM as I'm clearing out a lot of soundtrack LPs/CDs. https://filmscoremonthly.com/board/post ... &archive=0 If I'm breaking the rules, please delete and no need to apologize. In fact, I apologize! David

The Classic Horror Film Board-DAN CALVIN -- MONSTER KID & FRIEND
I learned earlier today from his brother that my childhood best friend, Dan Calvin, Danny as he was called then, has passed away at age 72. Dan leaves behind a loving family who will sorely miss him. Dan is also survived by his brother Sam Calvin, the co-editor and publisher of FXRH magazine, otherwise known as Special Visual Effects by Ray Harryhausen. Danny and I first met as classmates in the 1950s at St. Maria Goretti, a private elementary school. His brother Sam was in the grade ahead of us.

The Classic Horror Film Board-Norman Corwin, radio giant
"...And the morning lasted all day All day..." 49K15,767 49K15,767 49K15,767 Just read a fine biography of Mr. Corwin recently, which seemed like a good reason to revive this thread. He was pencilled in to write an original 1960s STAR TREK. Never happened, but it would have been something to see. Wonder if Gene Roddenberry and his staff would have had the nerve to rewrite Norman Corwin as though he were just another mediocre TV hack?

The Classic Horror Film Board-Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein score CD coming
This post by John Bissonette on October 4 did not receive a lot of response, probably because it was made in a thread about the new MYSTERIOUS ISLAND and FAHRENHEIT 451 CD. The report that a new Morgan and Stromberg recording of Frank Skinner's score for ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN will be coming in the future is truly great news for us fans of Universal horror music. We're looking forward to further updates, John. Here is an update on our upcoming projects.

11:27 AM - Apr 27#92024-04-27T11:27+00:00 I am just so sad and devastated. I only became a Moodies fan several years ago, but was immediately struck by Pinder's magnificent counter-melodies on the mellotron, most famous on 'Nights in White Satin'. His songwriting was incredibly soulful and philosophical.

Such sad news, even though I knew he had been ill for some time. Fabulous songwriter, singer, musician, and a really wonderful person. I had the pleasure of knowing him and exchanging CDs with him through the years. He would send me beautifully crafted pop/harmony bliss in exchange for monster music CDs. LOL! If you're not familiar with him, you should check out his immense talents.

A great band & Myles' distinctive voice lead the way. Apparently he was diabetic & retired from music because of it just a bit ago, although I don't know if that was the cause of his death. The Classic Horror Film Board-THE ALLIGATOR PEOPLE (1959)
Youll come out of that laboratory looking just fine, Paul! says Jane to her troubled husband. Sometimes people say things in these movies that are just tempting fate, don't they? And its not longer after Jane has come out with that line, that Dr Mark Sinclair explains to Jane that the radiation experiment cant go on for ONE SECOND longer than is planned. Or Paul will be in big trouble. NOT ONE SECOND! he repeats, just in case we dont get it.

"Chasing arrows" plastic recycling symbol may get tossed in the trash
WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — The "chasing arrows" logo is universally recognized as a sign to recycle, but the Environmental Protection Agency is now saying it's also universally confusing. It's recommending tossing the symbol for plastics and replacing it with a new one. The proposed change comes amid a growing body of research that suggests that plastic recycling isn't working and that most plastic is still ending up in landfills.
