David Badash’s Biography

David Badash is a progressive political journalist and digital media entrepreneur who has spent nearly two decades chronicling the intersection of civil rights, politics, and power in America. He is best known as the founder and editor-in-chief of The New Civil Rights Movement — a news and opinion site he launched in 2008 that became one of the internet's most distinctive voices in advocacy journalism, earning a GLAAD Award in 2014. Covering politics, public policy, litigation, and religion, Badash brings a commitment to accuracy and context that has earned him recognition well beyond his own platform — including citations in Politico and The Washington Post, appearances on the BBC, HuffPost Live, and The Michelangelo Signorile Show.
He lives in Provincetown, Massachusetts, with his Australian Cattle Dog, Jasper.
