Scene-adaptive immersive audio rendering requires rapid estimation of acoustic parameters that reflect the surrounding environment. For repeated runtime scene updates, performing a detailed geometric-acoustic simulation for every update can be computationally costly. We present Point2Acoustic, a learning-based framework for direct estimation of six-band reverberation time ($RT_{60}$) and reverberant-to-direct ratio (RDR) from 3D scene geometry and acoustic material properties.

High Relapse Rate in Anti-CASPR2 Disease
Research Article Open Access Introduction Antibodies against contactin-associated protein-like 2 (CASPR2) were first described in 2010.1,2 Previously, patients were thought to have antibodies against the voltage-gated potassium channel complex (VGKC-complex).3-5 CASPR2 is a transmembrane protein expressed in both the central and peripheral nervous systems.6 The disease is associated with a well-characterized and diverse spectrum of clinical symptoms that commonly affect older men.7 Patients...
Dietary fructo-oligosaccharides dose-dependently modulate the microbiome and suppress type 2 lung inflammation in a murine model of house dust mite-induced allergic asthma
Abstract Introduction: A balanced microbiome is crucial for local and systemic immune regulation. Dietary fibers can support the intestinal microbiome, protecting the host from allergic diseases, including asthma. The effects of fibers depend on their type, dose, and disease context. Here, we investigated the preventative effects of four doses of fructooligosaccharides (FOS) in a murine model for house dust mite (HDM)-induced allergic asthma.

Surfing the COVID-19 news waves: a Belgian case study of science communication and public relations with university press releases
1 Introduction A significant portion of university and health news is based on press releases sent out by press offices of scientific journals and universities [Kroon & Schafraad, 2013; Rossmann, Meyer & Schulz, 2017], positioning press releases as an important link between academia and the media [Bauer & Bucchi, 2008]. While press releases are an important tool for science communication, they also serve institutional public relations (PR) purposes [Carver, 2014].

From hazard to risk prioritization: a case study to predict drug-induced cholestasis using physiologically based kinetic modeling - Archives of Toxicology
Abstract Cholestasis is characterized by hepatic accumulation of bile acids. Clinical manifestation of cholestasis only occurs in a small proportion of exposed individuals. The present study aims to develop a new approach methodology (NAM) to predict drug-induced cholestasis as a result of drug-induced hepatic bile acid efflux inhibition and the resulting bile acid accumulation.
Real-world nudging, pricing, and mobile physical activity coaching was insufficient to improve lifestyle behaviours and cardiometabolic health: the Supreme Nudge parallel cluster-randomised controlled supermarket trial | BMC Medicine | Full Text
We conducted a parallel cluster-randomised controlled trial (RCT)—the Supreme Nudge trial—in 12 Dutch supermarkets from one chain in socially disadvantaged neighbourhoods. Supermarkets were randomised to a control arm (n = 6) or intervention arm receiving nudging and pricing strategies to promote healthy food and beverage purchases (n = 6).
Children, young people and the Commercial Determinants of Health
The commercial determinants of health (CDoH) have a significant impact on the health and well-being of children and young people (subsequently referred to as young people). While most research has focused on the influence of harmful industry marketing on young people, more recent CDoH frameworks have emphasized that a range of commercial systems and practices may influence health and well-being.

Buffering against exposure to mental health misinformation in online communities on Facebook: the interplay of depression literacy and expert moderation (pdf) | Paperity
BMC Public Health, Aug 2023 The proliferation of health misinformation on social media is a growing public health concern. Online communities for mental health (OCMHs) are also considered an outlet for exposure to misinformation. This study explored the impact of the self-reported volume of exposure to mental health misinformation in misinformation agreement and the moderating effects of depression literacy and type of OCMHs participation (expert vs. peer-led).

ABCA4 c.6480-35A>G, a novel branchpoint variant associated with Stargardt disease
1 Introduction Inherited retinal dystrophies (IRDs) are a clinically complex and heterogenous group of visual impairment disorders that can result in progressive vision loss and eventual blindness. Today, there are more than 280 genes that have been associated with IRDs (https://web.sph.uth.edu/RetNet/home.htm). ABCA4 is among the most commonly mutated genes associated with IRDs (Quazi and Molday, 2014; Perea-Romero et al., 2021).

GMD - GEB v0.1: a large-scale agent-based socio-hydrological model - simulating 10 million individual farming households in a fully distributed hydrological model
Simulating hydrological processes at the field scale Most hydrological models implement several different land use types (e.g. Burek et al., 2020; Sutanudjaja et al., 2018; Müller Schmied et al., 2021). In these models, soil processes in all land use types are simulated individually. Runoff and several other hydrological fluxes are then computed by aggregating to the grid cell level while considering the relative size of each land use type in a grid cell.

Teenagers’ and parental attitudes towards the use of placebo pills - European Journal of Pediatrics
Abstract The placebo response a significant therapeutic improvement after a placebo intervention — can be high in children. The question arises of how optimal advantages of placebo treatment in pediatric clinical care be achieved. In this era of shared-decision making, it is important to be aware of patients’ and parental attitudes. Therefore, the aim of the current study was to assess teenagers’ and parental views on the use of placebo pills in pediatric clinical care.

Is Less More? Field Evidence on the Impact of Anti-bribery Policies on Employee Knowledge and Corrupt Behavior
31 Pages Posted: 24 Oct 2022 Date Written: October 21, 2022 Abstract Knowledge of legal and corporate rules marks an essential prerequisite for compliance. Legal ignorance -- organizational members not knowing relevant rules they must comply with -- increases the risks of misbehavior like corruption. The most common way companies seek to improve legal rule knowledge is by adopting corporate policies and communicating them to their employees.

Ezh2 is essential for the generation of functional yolk sac derived erythro-myeloid progenitors - Nature Communications
Abstract Yolk sac (YS) hematopoiesis is critical for the survival of the embryo and a major source of tissue-resident macrophages that persist into adulthood. Yet, the transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of YS hematopoiesis remains poorly characterized. Here we report that the epigenetic regulator Ezh2 is essential for YS hematopoiesis but dispensable for subsequent aorta–gonad–mesonephros (AGM) blood development.

Processing of performance errors predicts memory formation: Enhanced feedback‐related negativities for corrected versus repeated errors in an associative learning paradigm
Abstract Learning from errors or negative feedback is crucial for adaptive behavior. FMRI studies have demonstrated enhanced anterior cingulate cortex activity for errors that were later corrected versus repeated errors even when a substantial delay between the error and the opportunity to correct was introduced. We aimed at identifying the electrophysiological correlates of these processes by investigating the feedback‐related negativity (FRN) and stimulus‐locked P3.

The case for open computer programs
Abstract Scientific communication relies on evidence that cannot be entirely included in publications, but the rise of computational science has added a new layer of inaccessibility. Although it is now accepted that data should be made available on request, the current regulations regarding the availability of software are inconsistent. We argue that, with some exceptions, anything less than the release of source programs is intolerable for results that depend on computation.
Renal and cardiac assessment of living kidney donor candidates
Abstract Living kidney donation provides the best therapeutic outcomes for eligible patients with end-stage renal disease. To ensure suitability for living kidney donation, donor candidates undergo a thorough medical, surgical, and psychosocial evaluation by a multidisciplinary transplant assessment team. Numerous guidelines are available to assist clinicians in the process of donor evaluation and selection.
