Unhealthy food advertising on social media: policy lessons from the Australian Ad Observatory
Exposure to unhealthy food marketing influences food preferences and consumption habits, particularly in children and young people (Smith et al., 2019; Boyland et al., 2022), contributing to diet-related non-communicable diseases (Afshin et al, 2019; Swinburn et al, 2019). There is an urgent need to regulate unhealthy food marketing to reduce exposure (Boyland et al., 2022; WHO, 2023a, 2023b).
