1 Introduction Wiskott–Aldrich syndrome (WAS) is an X-linked primary immunodeficiency. Patients with WAS suffer from recurrent infections, eczema, thrombocytopenia, severe immunodeficiency, and an increased risk of autoimmune diseases (1–3). WAS is caused by a mutation located in the WAS gene that encodes for the WAS protein (WASp). WASp, together with its family members (N-WASP, WAVE2, etc.) and several other actors (myosin, carmil, etc.), are classified as nucleation-promoting factors.
