Debbie Rolls’s Biography
After a 35 year career in education and social care I became a freelance journalist and author.
Since changing career, following a MA in Travel Writing awarded in 2021, I have had over a100,000 words published.
I have been Writer in Residence for the Crossing the Tees library festival (2023) and am the author of Everyone Welcome: Remembering and Celebrating Teesside Libraries. I write regularly for Leeds Living website, Saltburn and Loftus Talk of the Town magazine and Corridor 8 Arts.
To date I have also been published by BBC Travel, BBC Countryfile, Yorkshire Life, RHS Garden Magazine, Corridor 8, Dive and Yorkshire Art Magazine.
I have excellent communication and interpersonal skills developed through my career in education and social care. I have achieved all my goals in the field of education and want to share my love of travel, food and culture with others.
I have visited over 60 countries, travelling for pleasure and work. I am keen to promote visitor experiences in Yorkshire and the North East alongside overseas holidays.
I have a background in Disability Studies and have taught masters courses on inclusion. My commitment to social justice, inclusion and sustainability underlies my approach to writing.
