Physics teacher and trade union officer.

I also write about transgender issues from a first-person perspective. I am trans and I transitioned in 2012. My journalism currently focusses on three key areas of the debate:
1. The impact on women and, in particular, their right to organise as a biological sex and their ability to protect their boundaries and spaces.
2. The inclusion of transgender women in women's sports.
3. The impact on children who are facing pressures to determine their gender, with the possibility that leads to premature medicalisation of their condition.

I am very concerned that gender identity - a subjective concept that can neither be proved nor falsified - is being prioritised over biological sex when dividing society. Ultimately it could have very negative consequences on women and children as well as trans people ourselves.
