Why did you become a journalist?

Because my mom was a journalist and I've always aspired to be a writer

My high school didn't have a paper

Probably the CBC investigation into Able Translations or the stuff we produced in Hong Kong

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Find a beat that you're interested in, rather than forcing yourself into one you're not.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

I think people that when you cover social justice issues people think you must stand behind them 100 per cent, which is not always the case.
