Over 500 Rohingya Refugees Living in Nepal After Illegal Border Crossings: Police

More than 500 Rohingya refugees have entered Nepal illegally through the open Nepal-India border over different periods, posing challenges for border management and immigration enforcement, according to Nepal Police. Speaking at a press conference at the Nepal Police Headquarters on Thursday, Police Spokesperson Abinarayan Kafle said a total of 526 Rohingya refugees are currently residing in Nepal. The group comprises 162 men, 148 women and 216 children.

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gauri Kumari Yadav has said the government is actively working to address the widening gap between the growing demand for liquefied petroleum (LP) gas and its limited supply. Responding to lawmakers’ queries during Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Yadav said the Ministry had intensified market monitoring to prevent shortages and ensure the smooth distribution of cooking gas across the country.
