Arthur’s tropical life was short-lived

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Tropical Storm Arthur degenerated on Wednesday evening after moving inland. It became a tropical cyclone on Wednesday morning while its center hugged the TX coast...gaining some fuel from the warm Gulf waters. Yet, it’s tropical life was short-lived. As for its impacts, that’s not going to be short-lived. Actually, the moisture from Arthur will continue to track across the Gulf Coast States from Louisiana to Georgia... including our neck of the woods.

The weather goes downhill Thursday

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The first tropical storm of the season formed Wednesday morning just off the Texas Coast...becoming Arthur. Since then, it moved inland and continues to fall apart, but its remnants will bring impactful weather to much of the northern Gulf Coast States Thursday... including our area. FIRST ALERT- FLOOD RISK A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT. Flooding is a major concern Thursday due to the abundance of moisture that’s being steered into our area from Arthur.

Potential Tropical Cyclone #1 could become a tropical cyclone Wednesday

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The National Hurricane Center initiated advisories on Tuesday for what’s being called Potential Tropical Cyclone #1. It’s not a tropical cyclone yet, but it could develop into one Wednesday as it moves across the western Gulf. The farther away from the coastline, the better opportunity it’ll have to feed off of the warm Gulf waters & thrive. If it hugs the coast, that will limit its growth opportunity... and potentially keep it unorganized & lopsided.
