One dead in Modesto when car crashes into house during pursuit. Driver arrested

A driver being pursued by the California Highway Patrol early Tuesday turned from McHenry Avenue onto Robin Hood Drive in north Modesto and crashed at high speed into a home on Tuxford Lane, igniting a fire. One person was found dead in the home, either from the crash impact or the resulting fire, the CHP reported. The victim was an occupant of the home, not the car. Neighbors said, and the CHP confirmed, that the person in the home was house-sitting while the residents were out of town.

CHP working two injury crashes involving big rigs on Interstate 5 in Stanislaus

Two injuries crashes involving big rigs occurred on Interstate 5 in Stanislaus County on Thursday morning. The California Highway Patrol advises drivers to expect a delay on northbound Interstate 5 in the Patterson area as it deals with two injury collisions involving big rigs. The collisions occurred between Fink and Sperry roads. One crash happened at about 5:45 a.m., and the other at about 6:10 a.m., according the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page online.
