July 10, 2026 JAKARTA – Central bank surveys indicate weakening consumer confidence and retail sales on the back of recent interest rate hikes, suggesting households may tighten their belts in the coming months. The consumer confidence index (CCI) dipped to 117.8 points in June from 120.9 points in the preceding month, according to a monthly survey released by Bank Indonesia (BI) on Wednesday.

I ndonesia’s foreign exchange reserves have recorded its first monthly increase this year after five months of constant decline after Bank Indonesia (BI) hiked the interest rate by a total of 100 basis points (bps). BI spokesperson Ramdan Denny Prakoso revealed in a press statement on Tuesday that the country’s forex reserves in June stood at US$145.6 billion, $700 million more than $144.9 billion recorded in May.

T he government and the House of Representatives are expediting the drafting process for the bill on the Indonesian International Financial Center (PFII), aiming for passage before August and implementation by the year-end, in what economists view as a high-stakes gamble. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa attended a meeting with House Commission XI overseeing financial affairs on Thursday, which marked the formal start of drafting the PFII bill.
