2. Materials and Methods The specimens studied were cut out from a monolithic Cu-Ti-C-B SHS composite produced by the procedure described in [33,34]. Copper metal powders were used to form the composite matrix, of which the particles are shown in Figure 1a. The exothermic reactions were provided by heat-sensitive constituents (HSC), namely powders of titanium (Figure 1b), carbon (Figure 1c), and boron carbide B4C (Figure 1d).
