Methods A facility-based cross-sectional study design was employed to conduct this study in North Shewa Zone public hospitals of Oromia regional state. The zone has 15 woredas and the capital town, Fitche, is located 114 km from the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. Five public hospitals, 63 health centres and 268 health posts are currently providing various healthcare services for the catchment populations in the zone.
