Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is the most common cause of occupational and lifestyle-related skin disease.1 Fragrance compounds remain the most commonly detected contact allergens,2 generally used in fine perfumes, cosmetics and household products, and can also be found in essential oils. Some of these compounds autoxidize on contact with air, forming sensitizers which can lead to an adaptive immune response.
