He’s feeling sore, tired and cold. He also thinks he might have even caught the flu, but Dan Johnstone, better known as Can Man Dan says he has collected over 20,000 pounds of food in four days for the Edmonton Food Bank. That works out to be nearly four pounds of food donated every minute. On Sunday, Johnstone was camped outside the Sobeys grocery store near 109 Street and 23 Avenue. This was the fourth campout he’d undertaken in just four weeks, and he said he still has one more to go.

The installation of bike lanes in Edmonton have brought some growing pains. Pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers need to get used to new rules and new traffic layouts. One bike lane in Old Strathcona seems to be particularly confusing for some city drivers. A photo circling on social media shows a truck driving in the bike lane on 83 Ave.

Over the weekend Jason Kenney reiterated his position on the NDP’s carbon tax, saying repealing the “job-killing carbon tax” would be one of his first moves if elected premier in 2019. The United Conservative Party leader doubled-down on the potential policy in a statement on Monday and called for a provincial referendum if the federal government continue to push a carbon tax on the provinces.
