1 Introduction Sea level rise is increasing coastal risks impacting humans, ecosystems and cultural heritage worldwide (Pörtner et al., 2022). Sea-level projections and scenarios are developed around the world to help society mitigate and adapt to sea-level rise (Palmer et al., 2024; Sweet et al., 2022). In the Netherlands, a low lying country, sea-level rise is a problem for coastal adaptation (Haasnoot et al., 2020) and biodiversity (Pol et al., 2024).
