1. Introduction The fashion industry is a major contributor to environmental pollution, particularly through the release of microplastics from synthetic textiles [1,2]. Synthetic leather production also poses significant environmental and ethical issues [3]. Typically, synthetic leather manufactured from plastic-based materials, such as polyurethane (PU) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) [1], are composed of long chains of synthetic polymers.
