Abstract : Melatonin (MEL) is a neurohormone endowed with neuroprotective activity, exerted both directly on neuronal cells and indirectly through modulation of responsive glial cells. In particular, MEL’s effects on microglia are receptor-mediated and in part dependent on SIRT1 activation.
