Final GWR model: Applying the LASSO Although the private delinquency GWR model was not better than the OLS model, the Moran’s test statistic indicated spatial dependency of this variable and the spatial dependency found among the residuals from OLS Model 2. This suggested that it was important for us to control for this predictor in our final model. Proper estimation of a GWR model however must address multicollinearity among the explanatory variables as GWR is sensitive to multicollinearity [49].
