Across the United States, some unauthorized immigrants are keeping their children home from school. Others have suspended after-school visits to the public library. They have given up coffee shop trips and weekend restaurant dinners with family. Some don't answer knocks on their doors. They're taping bedsheets over windows and staying off social media. Nervous parents and their children constantly exchange text messages and phone calls.

SAN DIEGO – San Diego State University is warning students about a series of street robberies in the neighborhood surrounding the campus. Police say there have been several armed robberies in the College Area in the past three weeks. All of them happened at night and targeted students walking near campus or returning to campus from off-campus parties. Police did not provide a list of specific crimes and did not have a description of the robbers.

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Humane Society is needing help from the community after they rescued 123 dogs last week. The 123 dogs – mostly yorkie-mixes -- were rescued from an elderly couple's filthy home in Poway. Volunteers have been reaching out to help in any way they can. "We had to wash and groom all of these dogs because they were heavily matted with feces," a San Diego Humane Society worker said.
