1 Introduction The utilization of textiles as platforms for medical sensing has gained increasing attention, particularly in the domain of wound dressings that extend beyond passive protection. Conventional dressings are incapable of monitoring wound conditions or early indicators of infection; instead, their primary functions are to control moisture and protect wounds against outside contamination from the exterior.

Abstract To biomimetically mimic native muscle tissue new artificial soft actor materials need to be developed that can be processed into fibers and combine high mass-specific work, a sufficiently high contraction capacity, short contraction times, and biocompatibility. In this context, liquid crystal elastomers (LCE) are a promising class of materials that exhibit high actuator performance.
