A few years ago, the idea of opening your phone and talking to an AI therapist would have sounded futuristic, maybe even strange. In 2026, it feels much more normal. People are using AI mental health tools when they feel overwhelmed after work, stuck in repetitive thoughts, emotionally drained, lonely, anxious before sleep, or simply unsure how to explain what they feel. And the reason is not hard to understand. Traditional therapy can be expensive. Waiting lists can be long.
