Editor’s summary Polymer-based adhesives are used in a wide range of applications. For example, rapid-setting cyanoacrylate glues are used for external wound closures, but they cannot be used internally because of their high stiffness, cytotoxicity, and slow degradation. Pal et al. designed a family of poly(α-lipoic acid) adhesives by adding an electrophile that prevents closed-loop depolymerization during storage and use (see the Perspective by Guan).
