Interview

How is social media changing news?

Social media has transformed the news landscape by breaking down traditional gatekeeping, allowing anyone to create, share, and access information. This democratization fosters greater participation and amplifies diverse voices, but it also blurs the lines between credible journalism and misinformation. While empowering, this shift demands responsible use to balance openness with accuracy and accountability.

Why did you become a journalist?

To empower people to assert their rights and hold those in power accountable.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Always immerse yourself with the marginalized communities, it will help you stay grounded.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

Human rights are not limited to civil and political rights as they also cover social, economic and cultural rights. These include the rights to education, social security, adequate standard of living, health and cultural life, among other rights.
