Abstract Background: Colorectal cancer remains a major cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Despite curative resection and standard adjuvant chemotherapy, patients with stage III colon cancer remain at considerable risk of recurrence, with marked survival heterogeneity within the same pathological stage.
