Work on Maine Maritime Academy's pier continues as State of Maine expects to land at its homeport July 12

CASTINE -- It will be a state of the art pier for the State of Maine. "We're going to increase our dock space by about 100%," said Dana Willis, Director of Waterfront Operations for Maine Maritime Academy (MMA). The $96 million project to reconstruct MMA's pier began in August 2024. It's four feet higher and around 140 feet further from shore than its predecessor, according to Edward Scott, the Owner's Representative for MMA.
