Authorities raided an alleged cockfighting operation in Van Zandt County, about 70 miles east of Dallas, on Thursday, arresting an East Texas man and seizing nearly 200 birds, the SPCA of Texas said. Justin Blake Hart of Grand Saline has been charged with cockfighting, a state jail felony, according to the SPCA and the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office. Of the birds seized, officials said 174 were roosters, and seven were hens.

Two men identified after fatal boating accident in East Fort Worth pond

Authorities have identified the two men killed earlier this week in a boating accident at a private pond in East Fort Worth. Michael Lloyd Sanders, 64, and Terrance Terrell Sanders, 20, died late Wednesday morning after an incident on private property in the 3100 block of Cooks Lane, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office. The Fort Worth Fire Department said crews responded around 11:20 a.m. to a water emergency at a pond near East Lancaster Avenue and Cooks Lane.

Federal prosecutors say Allen man enticed minor, engaged in illicit conduct abroad

A 44‑year‑old Allen man is facing federal child‑exploitation charges for enticing a minor, arranging illegal sexual activity, and engaging in illicit conduct while abroad, prosecutors said. Sanjay Sachithanandham Sanjay Sachithanandham was indicted under the Justice Department's Project Safe Childhood Initiative, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Texas. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Bill Davis on Thursday.
