Police Scotland seizes 585 e-bikes in a year amid calls to clamp down on 'menace' vehicles

Police seizures of e-bikes soared by 83% in a year, an investigation has found, as forces crack down on dangerous models. Some 7,049 of the machines were confiscated across the UK in the 12 months to May 19, according to data obtained by the Press Association under freedom-of-information laws. Of those, 585 were seized by Police Scotland in that time period - the third highest of the UK's police forces. The Metropolitan Police was the force which seized the most with 2,367.

A man who walked the West Highland Way in honour of his partner and her late son rounded off the 96-mile charity challenge by proposing to her at the finish line. Benjamin Ward said they were his “sole focus” as he completed the hiking trail in 36 hours and 48 minutes. When the 44-year-old from Falkirk crossed the finish line in Fort William last Sunday, he got down on one knee and asked partner Natasha Goldthorpe, 37, from Irvine, to marry him.
