Hybrid ARIMA-LSTM for COVID-19 forecasting: a comparative AI modeling study
The ARIMA model showed the highest error rates across all metrics, highlighting its limitations in accurately forecasting daily COVID-19 cases and suggesting that traditional statistical models may struggle with the complex patterns in pandemic-related time series data. In contrast, the LSTM model significantly outperforms ARIMA, reducing errors by a considerable margin.
Emodin, a rising star in the treatment of glycolipid metabolism disorders: a preclinical systematic review and meta-analysis
Emodin is the primary active component of the Chinese rhubarb, which has a long history of application in China. Chinese rhubarb possesses properties that promote blood circulation and alleviate stasis, as well as facilitate bowel movements. Therefore, its clinical usage requires caution, for patients with weak, it is generally advisable to reduce the dosage. In recent years, emodin has been proven to be able to improve disorders of glucose and lipid metabolism.
Association of Chinese visceral adiposity index with asymptomatic hyperuricemia incidence in type 2 diabetes: a cross-sectional study
Association of Chinese visceral adiposity index with asymptomatic hyperuricemia incidence in type 2 diabetes: a cross-sectional study 1Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, Tianjin, China 2Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, Qingdao, Shandong, China 3Department of Anesthesiology, Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, Qingdao, China DOI 10.7717/peerj.19045 Academic Editor Juan Alpuche...
Prediabetes risk classification algorithm via carotid bodies and K-means clustering technique
In the construction stage of the PRCA, interstitial glucose measurements, which are minimally invasive, were necessary for training purposes. However, once the algorithm is fully trained and operational, it no longer requires interstitial glucose data. Instead, it relies solely on HR and RR data, which are influenced by oxygen and meal stimuli.

Oblique direction reach test: evaluating psychometric properties in stroke population
The study’s primary aim was to determine the psychometric properties of ODRT among individuals who had experienced a stroke. The psychometric properties evaluated in this study were inter-rater reliability, intra-rater reliability, and concurrent validity. ODRT measures one’s ability to displace their center of gravity away from the base of support in an oblique direction without taking a step or receiving any support.
The role of exercise in improving hyperlipidemia-renal injuries induced by a high-fat diet: a literature review
Oxidative stress Oxidative stress is a state of imbalance between oxidation and antioxidation; the oxidation reaction is predominant (Qiao, Chen & Zhang, 2023). The mechanism by which hypercholesterolemia and hyperlipidemia promote systemic oxidative stress is unclear. Oxidative stress appears in the early stages of renal injury, which is significantly important for the occurrence and development of high-fat induced renal injury (Scheuer et al., 2000).

Did the 1918 influenza cause the twentieth century cardiovascular mortality epidemic in the United States?
Introduction The twentieth century witnessed a slow-building increase of heart disease mortality, followed by a fall (Stallones, 1980); this pattern has been called an “epidemic” (Doll, 1987; Marmot, 1992).
