Sydney Summertime comes in hot as The Strokes are announced as first headliner
With the weather warming up and the days getting longer, there’s no better reason to be outside in February and March 2027 than for Sydney Summertime. From the minds at Secret Sounds and Live Nation, Sydney Summertime is a new outdoor concert series launching at Sydney’s Centennial Park this coming summer. Announced as the first headliner for the series is The Strokes, who will be bringing their Reality Awaits tour to our shores.
Rise Against give it all by announcing a national tour with Dropkick Murphys
Punk rock legends Rise Against are returning to our shores at the end of 2026 and bringing their mates and fellow punk legends Dropkick Murphys along for the ride. In support of their 2025 album Ricochet, the Chicago legends are bringing more than 25 years worth of hits as they roll around the country this November and December. After regularly touring Australia since the early 2000’s, Rise Against has grown a fierce and loyal local following with every proceeding album cycle and tour.
Album Review: Genesis Owusu – Redstar Wu & The Worldwide Scourge (2026 LP)
There’s nothing you like to see more from a musician than someone willing to take a risk on a body of work; all the while managing to pull it off as if it wasn’t a risk at all. At a time when it feels like the most bankable, popular songs sound and feel very similar to one another, it’s always refreshing to see an artist throw caution to the wind and release a body of work that bucks this trend, while seemingly locking down a new sound that very well might be the next wave of guaranteed success.
Two Door Cinema Club announce Australian tour celebrating 15 years of Tourist History
You know you’re getting on when the band that soundtracked your late high school years announces a 15-year anniversary tour of their debut album. Hitting our shores in November of this year, Northern Ireland legends Two Door Cinema Club have announced a six date tour of Australia and New Zealand in support of their acclaimed debut Tourist History. With support provided by English rockers The Vaccines (who are coincidentally also playing their debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?
Album Review: Molly Millington - Frank Morgan (2026 LP)
As someone who listens to their fair share of new music, there’s honestly not much better than seeing an artist you’ve followed on and off for a couple of years release a large body of work and absolutely crush it. In this instance, Molly Millington has gone about and released a debut album that’s one of the most fun debuts you’ll hear this year.
Ed Sheeran sends the Sydney crowd Loopy with three hours of hits
On an overcast night in Sydney, the red headed wonder Ed Sheeran brought nothing but sunny times, party tracks and love songs to the Accor Stadium crowd as part of his Loop world tour. Support for the night came in the form of Aaron Rowe, Mia Wray and Vance Joy. While admittedly only catching the literal last notes of Rowe, there was enough in those 20 seconds that makes me think you should definitely get down early to see him open up each show.
A breathtaking evening with Lucy Dacus at the Sydney Opera House
With the summer festival circuit not as strong as it once was, the ability to see international acts like Lucy Dacus has become harder to come by. Luckily for Australia, Dacus is currently touring with Laneway Festival and managed to sneak in a headline show at the Sydney Opera House in support of her 2025 album Forever is a Feeling. Even luckier for those in attendance, it was a show that might take the cake for gig of the year at the venue. Support came in the shape of Stella Bridie.
Live Review: Wet Leg's set oozed of class, wit and charm with The Lazy Eyes in Sydney
In town as part of Laneway Festival, Wet Leg returned to Sydney and delivered an electric and super tight headline slot at UNSW Roundhouse. On the back of their second album, 2025’s brilliant Moisturizer, the English act showed everyone in attendance just how far they’ve come along in the few short years they’ve been tearing up stages around the globe. Main support for the night came in the form of Sydney locals The Lazy Eyes.
Live Review: Laneway Festival - Centennial Park, Sydney (08.02.26)
After announcing a line up that would go on to sell out in minutes upon its release, the Sydney leg of Laneway Festival 2026 was primed and ready to deliver a day that could go down as one of the greats. With the weather gods delivering a mixed bag for the festival – from rain to humidity and a high UV rating – the day really proved to be a mixed bag for those in attendance.
Drama, decadence and devotion: The Last Dinner Party’s triumphant Sydney show
On a Saturday night with some of the worst weather Sydney has seen in a while, The Last Dinner Party put their best feet forward and delivered an intricate, fun and overwhelmingly brilliant set as part of their From The Pyre world tour. Returning to Australia 18 months on from their inaugural tour, the English act (plus one Australian) were welcomed with warm hearts by an adoring crowd doing their best to fill the void in a venue that didn’t quite sell out.
Live Review: Turnstile + Basement - Hordern Pavilion, Sydney (06.01.26)
We might be one week into the year, but there’s every chance we’ve already seen the set of the year, in the form of Turnstile at their Hordern Pavilion headline show. Yes, it’s a big call considering there’s a plethora of festivals ahead of us, a multitude of announced and unannounced tours coming our way, let alone the fact there’s another 51 weeks left in the year. But I’m telling you now, I will be pleasantly surprised if Turnstile’s 80-minute set is topped.
Live Review: Joy Crookes + Chanel Loren - Enmore Theatre, Sydney (02.01.26)
Returning to the country for the first time in three and half years, Joy Crookes took to Sydney’s Enmore Theatre stage to deliver a smooth, sultry and genuinely funny set in support of her second album Juniper. In town performing on a selection of new year’s festivals, the English artist was in fine form as she delivered a fantastic 80 minute headline slot. Acting as support for the show was Chanel Loren, the South-East London act now calling Australia home.
Live Review: Sam Fender + Holly Humberstone - The Showring, Sydney (21.11.2025)
It feels that November, despite being Aus Music Month, has been dominated by the Poms. Fresh on the heels of Oasis selling out stadiums and making every second middle-aged man cry about a band they never thought they’d be able to see live again, Sam Fender has returned to our shores and delivered a set that very well should receive as many applauds and accolades as the English brothers from Manchester.
Oasis returned to Sydney and delivered a set that will live forever
I’ve been fortunate in my time to see some of the biggest acts of not only my life, but objectively all time. From Paul McCartney to Taylor Swift, Arctic Monkeys and Florence + The Machine, The Strokes and The Cure, I look forward to telling my future children that I got to witness some of the biggest and best musicians ply their trade live on stage. I can now add Oasis to the list.
Album Review: The Last Dinner Party - From the Pyre (2025 LP)
Little more than 18 months after their breakout debut album, The Last Dinner Party return with another instant classic, the soaring rock-opera From the Pyre. After initially coming out of nowhere with the singles from Prelude to Ecstasy (including “Sinner”, “Nothing Matters” and “My Lady of Mercy”), the majority British act wowed crowds and critics alike with their edgy, guitar heavy indie rock.
Playlunch deliver the best headline gig of the year at Sydney's Manning Bar
It’s not often I say things as outlandish as the title above suggests, but I’m here to reassure you it is 100% correct: Playlunch just played the best and most fun live set of the year. Hot on the heels of the release of the second album, Sex Ed, Playlunch returned to Sydney’s Manning Bar and delivered 100 minutes of some of the most infectiously fun vibes the crowd has seen in a long time. Acting as main support was Juno, the Brisbane act delivering a mix of pop-punk, RnB and jazz.
Album Review: Wolf Alice - The Clearing (2025 LP)
Wolf Alice have always been known for their edgy indie music; a sound that at times bordered on punk, littered with loud guitars, forceful percussion and sparingly, complete anger. They crafted this sound across multiple albums and EPs, touring the globe regularly to increasingly large crowds. And yet here on their new album The Clearing, it feels like the band has decidedly gone in a completely different direction.
Album Review: Playlunch - Sex Ed (2025 LP)
In 2025, where everything either feels like a bin fire or no one can seemingly get along with anyone else, there always has to be a space for art that doesn’t take itself too seriously, while allowing those who consume it to have an unfettered experience when indulging in it.
Northeast Party House cancel kick ons and announce The Final Party tour
All good parties must come to an end. We’ve all been there before; stuck talking to someone’s random cousin, sat around the classic glass topped table in your mate’s parents’ backyard at 4am after what had been a great night. Thankfully, Northeast Party House have enough intuition to know when to call their time as a band so they don’t end up in this exact situation.
Album Review: Folk Bitch Trio - Now Would Be A Good Time (2025 LP)
Have you ever had a bad time listening to female led harmonies on a near acoustic soundtrack? I’m here to tell you the answer is no, and you can add Folk Bitch Trio to the list of bands that meet this description of releasing ridiculously pleasant indie-folk. Here on their debut album Now Would Be A Good Time, Folk Bitch Trio manage to do just about everything right, while stringing together 10 tracks of pure magic and beautiful brilliance.
Live Review: Ruby Gill + Betty - The Trocadero Room, Sydney (18.07.25)
On the back of one of the better albums released this year, Ruby Gill played their third show in Sydney in the past six months and managed to deliver an incredibly authentic and flawless set to a packed out Trocadero Room. Not even 4 months after releasing her second album Some Kind Of Control, Ruby’s return to Sydney was accompanied by opener Betty, a self-described folk-soul artist who delivered a clean and clear 30 minute support slot.
Live Review: James Vincent McMorrow - Metro Theatre, Sydney (03.06.25)
2025 has been a massive year for Irish artists in Australia. Dermot Kennedy brought Misneach Festival here in March, while Kneecap completely dominated everything they did a few months back. And now we’ve got James Vincent McMorrow reminding everyone he’s got one of the best voices as he returns to our shores with a cover-to-cover showing of his debut album.
Live Review: Ball Park Music + Bean Magazine - Enmore Theatre, Sydney (30.05.25)
Australia’s loveliest band, Ball Park Music, turned it up a notch and delivered one of the most wholesome (and at times funny) sets at the Enmore Theatre as part of their Like Love album tour. With the Sydney crowd in the palm of their hands, the Brisbane locals’ set left everyone feeling loved up and happy on a cool Friday night. Acting as main support for the night was Queensland natives Bean Magazine. With a 40 minute set, the three-piece were equal parts raggedy and engaging from the get-go.
Live Review: Holy Holy + Rowena Wise - Enmore Theatre, Sydney (24.05.2025)
It was a sweet, bitter sweet evening at the Enmore Theatre on Saturday night, as Holy Holy said goodbye to Sydney prior them heading into a long-term hiatus. After more than a decade as a band, and with six albums released, Holy Holy has called it a day and turned in one of the best career spanning live sets you’re likely to see. Acting as main support for the night was Rowena Wise.
Album Review: Ruby Gill - Some Kind Of Control (2025 LP)
Ruby Gill sounds like one of the greats of a far gone era. An artist whose voice and style transcends generations and populations. Similar to contemporaries like Laura Marling, Julia Jacklin or Angie McMahon, Gill has a calming and yet forceful delivery across all of her music. This is evident here on her second album Some Kind Of Control, a stunning and haunting dive into Gill’s attempts to regain agency over her body, foreign-ness and queerness.

Live Review: Billie Eilish + Ashnikko - Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney (24.02.25) - The AU Review
Back in the country for the first time since releasing her third album, Billie Eilish returned to Sydney for night one of a four-night run and delivered a killer 100 minute set that left the capacity crowd begging for more (literally). Opening up the night was fellow American artist and the only support for the tour Ashnikko. Playing a short and quick-fire 30 minute set, the young crowd seemed pretty receptive to Ashnikko's brand of rap-sing.
Shame announces Australian tour for February and March 2025
Last in the country in 2018 and now on the precipice of releasing their fourth album, legends Shame are headed back to Australia for a run of headline, supporting and festival slots.
Live Review: Bowling For Soup + Taylor Acorn - Metro Theatre, Sydney (10.12.24)
In town for a run of Good Things sideshows, Bowling For Soup returned to our shores to also play a selection of sideshows. Managing to pack out the Metro Theatre on a Tuesday night, the Texas band brought the best of their 30 year deep catalogue, while also throwing in a couple special treats for their long time fans. Opening the night was Taylor Acorn, a pop-punk prodigy from the USA, who along with their band, brought a lively and fun supporting set.
Live Review: Hayley Mary + Sans Rival - Waywards, Sydney (01.11.2024)
Historically Hayley Mary has never failed to deliver. One of the best vocalists of the past 15 years or so, she has always crushed a live show. Heading out on her own on the back of her debut solo album Roman XS, she brought the goods once more to Sydney’s Waywards club. After a couple of years of hurdles (‘let’s just refer to it as the Big C – Covid, not cancer’), this Sydney show made up part of what is her first headline solo tour.
Album Review: Annie Hamilton - Stop and Smell the Lightning (2024 LP)
You just love seeing artists make massive leaps forward from one album to the next. Here on her second album Stop and Smell the Lightning, Annie Hamilton has done just that. An album filled with vast arrays of whirling sounds and samples, both human and not, Stop and Smell the Lightning is hard to describe, and yet it sounds just like what you’d expect the multi-talented Hamilton to be capable of creating.
Good Things announces plethora of sideshows ahead of 2024's festival run
2024’s iteration of Good Things Festival is scheduled to roll through the country commencing the first week of December. With a stellar lineup featuring some of the biggest bands from today, yesterday and tomorrow, the curators have managed to book a lineup that is diverse and ready to please everyone in attendance.
Album Review: Hayley Mary - Roman XS (2024 LP)
When you find out one of Australia’s best vocalists is about to drop a new album, you drop everything and do whatever you can to listen to their songs. When this artist has been responsible for some of your favourite songs over the past 15 years, it makes it that much more exciting. Here, on her debut solo album, Hayley Mary manages to quench this excitement and delivers the goods with Roman XS, an album that traverses luscious and expansive sounds, all tied up within classic rock vibes and feels.
Fontaines D.C. announce massive Australian headline tour for early 2025
After finally making their debut visit to Australian shores in early 2023 after a multitude of false starts, the boys from the better land, Fontaines D.C., have announced their return down under with a string of massive headline shows matched with a couple festivals slots.
Live Review: Boy & Bear, Middle Kids and Dylan Wright celebrate GIG60 at Rooty Hill’s Coliseum Theatre
How good is not having to travel more than 15 minutes to get to a gig after a long working week? In short, it’s pretty bloody good. Bringing world class acts to Western Sydney is well overdue, and having Boy & Bear, Middle Kids and Dylan Wright grace the impressive Sydney Coliseum in Rooty Hill is a perfect example of what can happen when bookers and bands are willing to head this side of the ANZAC bridge.
Album Review: The Buoys - Lustre (2024 LP)
There’s a certain level of magic in guitar, bass and drum bands. In a world where this set up ever so slowly fades into extinction, The Buoys and their debut album Lustre feel like it could be the catalyst for the recommencement and reemergence of classic, solid and bloody fantastic guitar rock. The Buoys’ debut album feels like it’s been on the precipice of being released for the better part of this decade.
Live Review: Middle Kids + Mia Wray - Enmore Theatre, Sydney (07.06.24)
I love my hometown. I know its ins and outs, the traffic to avoid, best food and drink spots and most importantly, it is comfortable, familiar and feels like home. For Middle Kids, their Enmore Theatre show was a triumphant homecoming showcasing the best from their recent album Faith Crisis Pt 1 and their ever reliable back catalogue. Opening the night was Mia Wray, one of the best voices in the country.
Live Review: Angie McMahon - Sydney Opera House (12.05.24)
After releasing one of, if not, the best albums of 2023, Angie McMahon returned to Sydney to play the first stop on her Making It Through national tour. Selling out the Sydney Opera House in the process, McMahon greeted the Sydney crowd as old friends by welcoming them into her world and showcasing the stories that made up her most recent album Light, Dark, Light Again.
Live Review: Everything Everything + The Vaccines + Seaside - Roundhouse, Sydney (11.05.24)
Embarking on the last leg of their co-headline tour down under, Everything Everything and The Vaccines brought their A-games to a near capacity crowd at Sydney’s Roundhouse. It’s not every day you get a co-headline tour. Those days are even less common when the headline bands are two of England’s tightest bands returning to the country for the first time in half a decade with a combined back catalogue of thirteen albums.
Live Review: Ngaiire + Godtet + Sydney Symphony Orchestra - Sydney Opera House (04.05.24)
If I’m going to make one recommendation to you this year, let it be this: attend a Sydney Opera House show on a rainy Saturday night. If it’s with Ngaiire as the headline act, then that will make the night that much better. On the back of the release of her new live album, Live at the Sydney Opera House, Ngaiire returned once more with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and produced one of the most wholesome and fulfilling sets you’ll likely get.
Album Review: Maggie Rogers -
Is 2024 the year your favourite artist delves into Country? In a time when Country is no longer a dirty word in many musical milieus, it seems 2024 is just as good a time as any for non-traditional Country artists to dip their toes into the scene and see where it takes them Maggie Rogers, with her new album Don’t Forget Me, is one of these artists. Maggie isn’t a stranger to this more earnest and wholesome side of music.
Album Review: Vampire Weekend reach fond heights in Only God Was Above Us (2024 LP)
A lot has happened in the world since Vampire Weekend last released an album (2019’s Father of the Bride). A lot has happened since frontman Ezra Koenig wrote the vast majority of lyrics to this new album (2019-2020). One thing that hasn’t changed is Vampire Weekend’s ability to create lyrics and music so uniquely obtuse that you don’t even try to overthink what they’re doing anymore.
KYLIE, Future and Arcade Fire lead the charge for Splendour In The Grass 2024
Splendour In The Grass has announced their lineup for the 2024 edition of the festival, with a stacked billing of artists, headed by the one and only Kylie Minogue. Taking place in the North Byron Parklands over the weekend of 19 – 21 July, the festival will greet us with a plethora of international superstars and just as many hometown legends. Let’s take a closer look at the day-by-day breakdown. Friday Padam Padam, we’ll be losing our minds over Friday’s headliner Kylie Minogue.
Splendour speculation: Who we think might play Splendour In The Grass 2024
With the 22nd edition of Splendour in the Grass announced to go down from 19 – 21 July, we thought it was about time to get the crystal ball out and begin to speculate as to whom might be playing the North Byron Parklands this July. With a strong history of booking the cream of the crop both domestic and international, let us begin the process of putting together the clues on who we think will playing the main stages in a few short months.
Live Review: Taylor Swift lives up to expectations at Sydney's Accor Stadium
Accor Stadium is becoming synonymous with powerful women dominating in their field. The last time I was at the stadium, I watched Sam Kerr score a worldie in the semi-final of the Women’s Football World Cup. I thought that would be a tough moment to top. And then in comes Taylor Swift on night one of her Eras Tour and puts on a superlative performce; one of the all-time greatest shows I’ve seen.
Album Review: Middle Kids - Faith Crisis Pt. 1 (2024 LP)
Returning for their third album, Middle Kids enter 2024 at the top of their game. A band always capable of creating songs that are just as deep as they are sing-a-longs, the Sydney band are back with Faith Crisis Pt.1, a thirteen track dive into a frontwoman Hannah Joy questioning her faith.
Angie McMahon announces the Making It Through Tour in support of her album Light, Dark, Light Again.>
On the back of releasing her stellar 2023 album, Light, Dark, Light Again, Angie McMahon has announced an Australia and New Zealand tour, hitting up eleven theatres here and abroad this May and June. Named our favourite album of 2023 (you can read our album review here), McMahon is set to showcase all the best she has to offer from Light, Dark, Light Again as well as a selection of tracks from her first album Salt.
The Vaccines and Everything Everything announce co-headline tour of Australia
Both returning to Australia for the first time since before the pandemic, English legends The Vaccines and Everything Everything have teamed up to announce a co-headline tour for May 2024. With both bands releasing albums this year (Everything Everything release Mountainhead on 1 March, while The Vaccines released Pick-up Full of Pink Carnations in January), it’s a no-brainer that a world tour would be on the cards.
Live Review: The War on Drugs at their very best at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt
With possibly the best band name of the last 20 years, The War on Drugs have always managed to put on a killer show everywhere and every time they’ve played. Their show at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt was no exception. Returning to Australia in support of their I Don’t Live Here Anymore, the Philadelphia lords put their best foot forward, nailed all guitar licks and managed to make a Monday evening a lot less mundane than you’d typically expect.
