What inspired me to write the untold story of modern stand-up

New book Reading the Room: The Inside Story of UK Stand-Up in the 21st Century is a social history of modern live comedy. It features exclusive interviews with some of the best comedians in the UK, including Ed Byrne, Ivo Graham, Richard Herring, Elis James, Phill Jupitus, Suzi Ruffell and Isy Suttie. The project has been a five year labour-of-love for author Jonathan Grant. Here he explains why he embarked on the project. One of the reasons I wrote the book is my own long history with stand-up.
